The table is a lovely 52 inch round walnut top with ornate victorian eastlake inspired legs. The table has about 7 extending runners, meaning it should take up to about 5 leaves of 10 inches each.
Thats a full 9 foot long and 55 inch wide table, enough to seat up to 12 comfortably.
A rare item to find.
It does not have leaves, but we can have these made up for you either of solid woods, or preferably plywoods stained to match. Plywood leaves stand the test of time better with less chance of warping when stored away.
If you require solid walnut leaves, just let us know, and we can quote that portion of the job.

This is an exceptional table, which will fill a room with flair and panache every day of the year.

Fantastic Aesthetic Double Bed finely carved, burl highlights, reeded columns and mouldings, possibly Berkey & Gay or Robert Hay

Full double size, of superb craftsmanship.
Provenance uncertain, but the story is the founder of the Canadian Office Supply Company (Preston, Ontario) was born in this bed.

30 cm of textual records.

Percy R. Hilborn was born in Berlin (now Kitchener), Ont. in 1886. He graduated from McGill University and became a prominent industrialist and philanthropist in Preston, Ont., now part of Cambridge. He was involved in furniture manufacture, including the Canadian Office and School Furniture Co. and Canada Sand Papers Ltd. He served the community in many ways: he was charter president of the Rotary Club of Preston-Hespeler, chairman of the Preston Planning Board, and a charter governor on the Board of Governors of the University of Waterloo in 1957. He was named to the honour roll of the Grand River Conservation Authority after donating a 145 acre park.

Dated to circa before 1886, , uncertain of maker, but initial research would indicate possibly Robert Hay (of ex-Jacques & Hay, Toronto), or Berkey & Gay (Grand Rapids,Michigan).

I will investigate further to confirm exact provenance.
In the meantime, its being offered at $3800 AS IS.
It requires minor repairs, and can be offered fully restored at $4650.

It is still in original finish, and in a sound structural condition.
Have a peek at the pictures, straight from the attic of a local home here in Galt.
There is a small rumour that it may have been made in the Guggisberg factory, right next to Clare Bros in Preston…    but it’s only a whiff of a legend of a rumour, no substance as of yet.
