Well there I am on kijiji.ca, perusing ads for local purchases.
I need more stock.
p.s. if you have any old wooden factory foundry forms, i’m listening, Will buy bulk,, 10 – 1000, just contact me at 519-623-4050.
Ok, back to biz.
There I am perusing ads, and come up with a nice grouping in York Region, about 100 km from home.
Interesting items, prices are high, click on sellers other ads, and up pops some 50 items. Hmm, not a private seller. That’s never stopped me before in trying to make a deal, but it doesn’t look right I note the descriptions, something about “buying canadian” and not “feeding the multinationals” and figure, ok, not sure I wanna make that call. I’ll just pass, there’s lot of stuff around.
As I look through the items, I note various ones have pictures with SNOW in them. Now up here in Canada, we get lots of snow, but it usually is mostly gone before end of March, Mid-april at the latest.
Then I notice the note about “christmas is coming”.
Dead stock, nope, don’t want to touch that, it’s been on the market for over 6 months, no takers. I don’t mind dealers castoffs, I make a good living on a lot of them… but this stuff has been “burnt” now.
So off I go to Etsy hoping to find some scoops. Can you tell I enjoy buying?
Well. I have to, this a 24/7 business we run here, and I’m constantly needing new stock. They dont make antiques anymore — well not nice ones, so you have to snap them up and work hard to keep a large store in stock.
More snow. I see a grouping of furniture listed with pictures of furniture on porches, close to picture windows, and outside you see the Snow.
Granted, the sellers may be way up in the Rockies — but means dead stock to me.
So…. before you take those wonderful pictures to sell stuff online, try to make sure you’ve at least shovelled your driveways, sidewalks, porches, AND moved your saleable items to a cosy place inside. Like maybe a roaring fireplace beside that lovely bookcase you’re selling?
And you do know christmas is over right?
Just a thought.
Green Ink OUT.
