  1. I saw this piece advertised on Kijiji before the restoration and I liked it better without the black paint. Is it possible to refinish the doors and sides with the natural wood? Thanks.

      1. LOL, thanks, Vince,
I’d love to drop in but I’m in Montreal, although my dad was from Kitchener and my mother from London. The natural mahogany on this piece looks beautiful and that’s what I’d like to see everywhere on it – no painted surfaces. What would it cost to do that? Also I wonder if you have a ballpark idea of shipping costs to Montreal. We’re in an apartment and it’s really hard to find a small Empire sideboard!

        1. Barbara, to strip down the paint is easy. to fix the door crack is hard.
many parts of mahogany veneer missing on cross pieces, feet, etc.
Costs to restore to full mahogany fronts would be about $1200.

          1. Vince,
Thank you for the reply. I didn’t realize so much veneer was missing so I understand your cost estimate. It’s a lot of work and material. Unfortunately, this would put the sideboard out of my price range. I will keep looking.
