what’s a spandrel?
In common practice, it’s a room dividing archway.
A spandrel is used to define an archway between the two rooms which have actual rectangular walls.
See Wikipedia here.
DPG does a wonderful job with a mahogany spandrel he purchased here at Green Spot. It was made of mahogany, and was missing some parts of the gingerbread design. With a bit of patience he fixed it up, and here it is in all it’s splendour.
What a great entranceway, don’t you think?
Love the doors, love the hall-stand, and the spandrel does a nice job of dividing the space just right 🙂
